Judah is the son of Shirley (Sestric) and Arthur Michael “Art” Friedlander. Judah’s father was of Russian Jewish descent. Judah’s mother has Croatian roots.

Judah’s maternal grandfather was George N. Sestric, Jr. (the son of George N. Sestric, Sr. and Mary A. Pavlic). Judah’s great-grandfather George was born in Croatia. Mary A. was born in Pennsylvania, to parents from Rosopajnik and Kunić, Croatia, Janko Planinac-Pavlic and Jela Furlic.

Judah’s maternal grandmother was Margaret M. “Babe” Bross (the daughter of Frank Bross/Bros and Antonia T. Mufic). Frank and Antonia were born in Yugoslavia, and were likely of Croatian descent.
