Dr. Kim completed his residency in ophthalmology at New York Hospital / Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where he served as Co-Chief Resident. He completed his fellowship in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary / Harvard Medical School in Boston. He received several national honors including the Heed Ophthalmic Fellowship Award and the Paul Kayser International Fellowship Award. He was elected by the faculty to serve as Chief Retina Fellow while at Harvard University.
Dr. Kim has a strong interest in global health having served on medical teams to Siberia, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua and has been awarded several scholarships and grants to increase healthcare access to underserved areas.
Dr. Kim also maintains a strong interest in research and education having published over 20 articles in the peer-reviewed literature, 2 book chapters, and numerous abstracts. He has lectured at national and international meetings on topics including retinal detachment surgery, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disease, retinal imaging and telemedicine, and ophthalmic education. He has participated in numerous FDA-sponsored clinical trials of new techniques to treat macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. He co-founded and serves on the advisory board of the ophthalmic education website OphthalmicEdge.org.
Dr. Kim is on the medical staff of Hackensack University Medical Center, Clara Maass Medical Center, and the Bergen Passaic Cataract Surgery and Laser Center.
